Summer cut!!

Motta bambi!!!
Unlike her brother, she screamed the place down. Created a major ruckus at the barber shop. Three people had to restrain her majesty so that the barber could shave her locks off.
And once we got back, she spent the rest of the morning sulking :-)

The three imps!

Out of the horse's mouth

Mowgli and my mom are playing shuttle in the hot sun. In a last bid to get Mowgli to play some indoor game, my mom says " Enough. Mowgli black aayi"
A worried Mowgli drops his bat, runs inside and checks in the mirror " No mamamma, Mowgli ippalum YELLOW aanu!"
***************************
Mowgli speaking to our tamil neighbours. After a lot of hopscotch conversation the neighbour says "Okay Mowgli. Bye. Kaushik (her son) toonga pore."
A very happy Mowgli replies " Okay. Bye. Mowgliyum toonga pore." and runs to the push-up bar and tries to hang on it!!!
******************************
Middle of the night he gets up and starts hitting me left and right.
"Eduthu. Mama atheduthu." And then abruptly goes back to sleep !!!!
************************
"Mama, Mowgli innorangiyappam cinema kandu."
"Eh? What cinema?"
"Yes. Mowgli and Shezaad (his friend) skate cheyna cinema kandu"
He actually meant Dreams!!!
**************************
"Why she is putting so much of susu, mama?"
"I don’t know Mowgli."
"I think becos she is drinking so many dudu, so many kurukks."
"Oh. So what should we do then?"
He pretends to think for some time “Idea.. put Bambi back in your tummy.”

And now that the vacations are here, this is what I need to keep reminding myself every milisecond!

If I Had My Child to Raise Over Again
by Diane Loomans
If I had my child to raise all over again,I'd build self esteem first, and the house
later.

I'd fingerpaint more, and point the finger less.

I would do less correcting and more connecting.

I'd take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.

I would care to know less and know to care more.

I'd take more hikes and fly more kites.

I'd stop playing serious, and seriously play.

I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars.

I'd do more hugging and less tugging.

I'd see the oak tree in the acorn more often.

I would be firm less often, and affirm much more.

I'd model less about the love of power,And more about the power of love.

One year!!!

The most common cliché when it comes to children “Where did the time fly? One year already?” I look at you and shake my head in disbelief, really where did the time go? The months just flew by. It was a blur of things happening and life whizzing by. And in the midst of everything you just grew up. Ever smiling.
[with your bua]

[with your mema]

From the calm baby, you are this feisty little girl now. Woe betide anyone who tries to cross paths with you. Very clear about what you want, ready to take on people twice or thrice your size and totally fearless. Your stunts leave both of us gaping at you half of the time! Scramble up the stairs the moment anybody leaves the gate open. Climb on Mowgli’s chair and do all sort of acrobatics on it. Try to get inside all the cupboards and nooks. Bite Mowgli if he tries to take anything from your hand. Scream the place down if you think that Mowgli is going to take away your toy and at the same time slyly bite him. Laugh in pure joy at what all he does to you- drag you around the house, hug you tight, play his silly games with you. Eat out of Cocoa’s bowl and when she tries to push you away, slap her on the nose. Rest your head on her tummy whenever you feel like it. Act the injured party whenever people are watching and put on your most innocent expression. Ready to eat everything other than your food.

In other words we are gearing up to redefining the rules around here.

[with the BH's parents and Ishan(BH's sister's son)]

Your birthday party was a family affair. The BH’s parents came and made a yummy spread. The cake by me.

Mowgli and Unni chettayi cut the cake on your behalf and we all had a nice time. [You pulling Unni chettayi's hair]

So as always, God Bless.
Have fun and be good.
Luv,
Mama & Dada

Just like me

You get mad at me and tell me 'Mama po. office poyko' and in the next minute you huddle up to me and say 'Mowgli mamante aduthoru secrud parayatte?'
You complain when your dada reduces the volume on the stereo 'Dada! Mowglinu so many loud aayittu paatu kekanam'
You get angry at the drop of a hat and cool down in the time taken to put the hat back!
When you sleep, you almost choke the person next to you by your throat hug!
You drink water by the gallon and if i give you just half a glass you say 'Mama, mowglinu so manu ullu venam'

Just like me :-) My baby.

Give me dudu...

It has been the most horriblest of days starting with a grumpy looking mama and a grumpier dada staring at me. I tried smiling, making those funny noises which they seem to love, tried hugging them, but absolutely no response. Dada did smile at me in the end and tickled my tummy, but mama kept on staring with a deadpan expression on her face. (I guess last night was a little too much for those oldies). Well, if she wants to play serious, so can I. So no more smiles and chitter patter for mama, I’ll play with dada. But what about dudu? Why isn’t she feeding me? I just love those times relaxed on the bed. I pretend to be asleep while she furiously reads her book. When she thinks I’m done and slowly tries to get up I start crying and latch on again. For the past couple of months I’ve been feeling so lazy to eat those dreadful ragi and oats concotions she makes. Even rice is also very boring. For me the easy life. No biting no chewing. Just lie back put up my feet and sip away to glory. Morning noon and night. No solid food. Only yummy yummy dudu.
Hey, but wait a minute. I know that expression of hers. Have seen her take it out many times with dada and chachan especially when they have been upto no good. It is that expression of her which means business. I can almost hear her eyes talking to me “Lady, this is it!”
And she looks at me and delivers the verdict. Bambi, now no more dudu. You’d better start having regular meals now!”
And cruella de ville walked away. I cried and cried , but no use. I knew it. When she puts on that expression, it usually means business.
So ladies and gentlemen, my good ole days have come to an end. I have no other choice but to eat whatever is being fed to me.
It’s a sad day in history today
