I look at the statistics everyday and am surprised. There seem to be a lot of people other than the three who know about this blog. I even have a reader from Poland!!!!

Yuck!!!

After another eventful and hectic day we finally hit the bed. I had just put Mowgli to sleep and was slowly drifting off to dreamland myself. Suddenly I hear a small "putt" and a horrible smell fills the room. The perfect biological warfare weapon that can be used to wipe out an entire city!!!

I immediately look at my peacefully sleeping son and turn to the BH "You??????"

"No ways! Mowgli. Horrible. What did you feed him for dinner?"

"The usual. Maybe he's drinking too much of milk"

"Must be. Whatever. This is horrible."

We both sit up and attempt to breathe some fresh air. The air slowly clears up and we again drift off to sleep.

Today morning just as the BH is leaving for work, he looks at me with a sheepish grin and confesses "You know something? It was me, not Mowgli!"

I cant stop grinning because..

this is what I got for Valentine's day :-)

The entire collection of Calvin and Hobbes!!!! Everything put into three lovely hard bound books. I had been eyeing this for about two years now. Hesitating about spending so much on "just" a book. Gave loud and clear hints to everybody I knew and finally the BH took the hint. Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmma

As Calvin would have said, it is moments like this that help to keep the BH's popularity ratings pretty high :-)

This is how we spend our mornings and evenings...

This is the HAL Park. Technically its not a park we just call it so. It is more of a set of four grounds between the HAL quarters. A huge expanse of space. It is so peaceful being there. You can actually feel the fresh air filling you up and rejuvenating you. Early mornings are the best with the sunlight streaming in between the trees and if you can manage to go even earlier then it is foggy and slowly you can see the trees breaking out of the mist. It’s heavenly.

A lot of people come here for their morning /evening runs, take the dogs out, play football/cricket/badminton/ to do yoga. There are also a bunch of oldies who religiously come every morning and evening and sit and gossip with each other. We have been going here regularly since coco came and its good. Coco goes berserk when she gets out of the car and the first five minutes she just keeps running around full speed in circles! Crazy dog that she is!!!! Mowgli on the other hand walks slowly to his favorite stone picking up the leaves and sand and whatever dirt he can prise and arranges everything on the stone. There is a rickety Merry-Go-Round and a slide. He clambers up all that and has fun whooshing down the slide The BH skips/runs with coco behind his heels. I walk around and generally feel happy and calm.
Whatever may be the faults of the government at least in this regard I am proud of them. That they have allowed so much land to be kept as it is without doing any construction work on it. Be it HAL/ISRO even if the quarters are small, there is always lots of trees and some place to breate fresh air. Bangalore needs a lot more places like this.

Mowgli's day out!

Dr. Spock says that children need to be stimulated with different environments so as to promote curiosity, help in their development etc etc. That’s how we went to the Zoo!
Mowgli had a gala time. Initially I thought maybe he is too small to enjoy, but as usual the boy proved me totally wrong! He was so excited seeing the animals and the birds. He has a book with pictures of animals and it’s the BH’s job to show him the animals and imitate their sounds. So it was more fun for him to see the same animals live!

The first were the giraffes and he got totally hyper when he saw them. Pointing at them madly and shouting at the top of his voice “Nanna… Geeeraaaaaaaaaaa” (don’t ask me where the ‘Eff” went. He doesn’t seem to have that sound in his vocabulary). Kept on laughing and pointing at them. Even now he points at the giraffe's picture in his book and goes bonkers over it!

Saw the bright coloured parrots and flamingoes and went “Nanna…ka-ka”. Now ka-ka means crow. The poor flamingoes. They sure got insulted when they heard that!

The next was the tiger and that was when our poor little boy showed his true colours. That he is just a lot of sound and show, but when it comes to ground reality he is one big scary poo!!! One look at the tiger and he lost his voice. He just kept staring at that majestic animal and clutched the BH tightly. No roars from him, not even a meow! He opened his mouth only after we were a good distance away from the tiger’s enclosure. Hahahaha. The same was repeated for all the big cats.
Saw the elephants and the rhinos and the monkeys and every thing else. In the end we got tired walking and carrying him around. We couldn’t make him walk because he insisted on going inside the cages!!! All in all it was a good trip both for Mowgli and us. The zoo is well maintained. Lots of space for kids to play around. It’s a good one-day trip from Bangalore. Its a nice drive and Mowgli was totally tired out at the end of the day.

I PROMOTE CHILD LABOUR...

....When it is freely available at home!!!!

Thoughts that crossed my mind

when I went for the interview yesterday.

• After being in a 30 member office for 2.5 years seeing so many people running around was a shock!
• Dear HR,a black bra under a see-through pink kurtie is a disaster regardless of how pretty you look
• The whole informal set-up casual clothes reminded me so much of my GE days
• I need better shoes
• I need to reduce my tummy
• Workplaces need to be more parent friendly
• Dear tensed looking girl, please do not treat this interview as a test. Stop mugging up your resume and muttering to yourself why you want a job here.
• I am getting OLD!!!!

The interview went on well ( I think!) till we came to the part where I asked for flexible timings and work from options. they gave me the usual dialogues" we do not have a problem, but have to check with HR and see if there is a business policy. blah blah blah...)

Lets wait and see.
